How do I obtain my ThinMan Pro server’s IP Address?
To obtain the IP Address of the ThinMan Pro server, (on the ThinMan Pro server) open a command (Select start, Run: Type cmd, enter) window. In the Command window type "ipconfig" the output will show the assigned address. Use of the IP address is good in an environment that uses static IP Addresses for the server. If IP addresses are assigned via DHCP it is a better idea to use hostnames. DHCP IP Addresses are typically set for a limited time and may change. To obtain the hostname (on the ThinMan server) open a cmd window and type "hostname", the hostname will be returned.
How do I configure the ThinMan server if it is behind a firewall?
ThinMan Pro agents and server use port 80 and http to communicate. The firewall must be opened for bi-directional communications on port 80. See your firewall users manual on how to configure it to allow port 80 to use bi-directional traffic. Note: Some Internet providers do no allow port 80 traffic unless it is requested from inside.
What if I have a dynamic IP address (DHCP)?
Use the hostname. To get the hostname (on the ThinMan Pro server) open a cmd window (Select start, Run: Type cmd, enter). In the Command window type "hostname" and press enter, the hostname will be returned.
How many agents does the ThinMan Pro server support?
ThinMan Server can support as many Agents as the hardware performance will support. The typical desktop hardware can support up to 20-30 agents and a full multi-CPU server with Gigabit-Ethernet can support hundreds of agents.
Do I need to download the ThinMan Pro agent more than once?
No, you simply need to copy the downloaded software to a local storage device and install as many as your license will allow. There is no difference between trial and production ThinMan Pro software. The license controls the number of agents allowed.
